Lauren Callaway began her dance training at the age of 3 in Fort Worth, Texas. Lauren has trained in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop, African and Dunham Technique. She was a member of competition teams for 10 years, earning multiple awards and titles at Regional competitions, and competing on the national level earning a National Title. Lauren has performed in La Sylphide and three productions of The Nutcracker, performing the role of Sugar Plum Fairy in two productions. Lauren studied under Debbie Allen in Los Angeles on scholarship for a year, and was part of a special performance for the Space Shuttle Endeavor. Lauren also had the opportunity to teach and choreograph for Millennium Dance in Dallas, and performed with Norwegian Cruise Lines in the Bahamas, and the Mediterranean. After several contracts with Norwegian, Lauren moved back to Texas where she trained as a Principle Dancer for Zion Dance Projects for three seasons. Amidst pursuing a professional career, she began teaching and choreographing for various studios all over the DFW metroplex. Lauren teaches ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, strength/conditioning and progressive technique, but her favorite is contemporary and artistic movement. As a choreographer, her routines over the years have received numerous High Point Awards, Judge’s Awards and Choreography Awards. This is Lauren’s second year as the Artistic Director of ProviDance Performing Arts Center and she hopes to continue her career in the years to come. 



 My heart as a teacher and a mentor is to create a safe space, a haven of sorts, for my dancers to find rest and unadulterated joy in. A place to come amidst every storm and still season to just be and receive and seek who they are in Christ. I desire to instill in each dancer a heart that is willing and able, honest and self-disciplined. I seek to aid in guidance through posture and presence and the way in which they carry themselves, not only in the classroom but throughout their everyday lives. I passionately believe that as a teacher it is my job to foster, mold and cater to each individual talent and ability. Not only am I focused on the technical aspect of their growth but their faith alongside their technique and to help aid in the revelation and realization that the two very much so coincide. My strength as a teacher lies in teaching artistry, musicality, the depth of storytelling and purpose. I challenge my dancers to learn how to be vulnerable, both with their bodies and through their expressions in life. My heart is to encourage their faith and artistic abilities and in turn, to be encouraged by them and theirs. I desire to be a light for those that are lost or walking in the darkness. To align their heads and their hearts with that of the Father’s and by the end of the season, to have a TEAM of dancers walking in deeper truth and revelation and identity and purpose. All produced by the Spirit himself. I am truly just desiring to create CARRIERS OF BEAUTY. The world needs more beautiful things and I believe these dancers are here to be just that in a time like this. I believe that our artistic beauty can serve and inspire our world and community as a type of sacramental and redemptive signpost of hope, meaning and vision. At the end of the day, I desire my classrooms to be a place where the Holy Spirit can move however and whenever. A place where my students know they will grow, be stretched and stay challenged, but will always rest assured feel safe, loved and supported.
