Whitney is a dance artist and educator from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with a background in dance performance, choreography, production, and education. Her passion for teaching, and desire to create movement and inspire others through dance, began at a young age. Whitney danced in the studio and competitive dance scene for 15 years. Throughout her early dance training she focused on Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary/Lyrical, Tap, and Jazz under the direction of TCU dance alumni, Angela McGarity. Whitney received her B.A. in Dance, with a minor in Psychology, from Texas Woman’s University in 2011. She went on to continue her dance education in the graduate program at TWU, focusing primarily on the choreographic and creative process. In 2014, Whitney received her M.F.A. in Dance from TWU. She was an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance at the University of Texas at Arlington for 6 years, while also maintaining an Assistant Director position for a local DFW dance studio. Over the years, Whitney has gained immense experience in the dance competition scene as a choreographer, director, instructor, and adjudicator. Her goal in life is to continue growing as a dance artist and educator in every way possible, and to share her love and knowledge of dance with every student she has the honor of teaching. She strives to educate her students on the primary foundations of dance: history of dance, the creative process, performance growth, and most importantly, technique.
